Shortly after, Abe attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro to pursue a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry, conducting organic chemistry research under Professor Mitchell P. Croatt. His graduate work focused on the synthesis of Ambuic acid and analogues as a potential treatment for staph (MRSA) infections. Abe successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in 2023. He then returned to New York and became a Visiting Assistant Professor at Adelphi, teaching General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry for two years. In 2025, Abe launched UstoChem, a comprehensive academy focused on helping students succeed in all aspects of chemistry.

Who We Are

University-Level Expertise

  • UstoChem Academy is led by a former university professor of Chemistry with teaching experience in General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry.

  • We combine academic expertise with a proven track record and deep commitment to helping students develop mastery, confidence, and strong problem-solving skills.

  • You’re not just getting tutoring—you’re getting instruction grounded in real course design, assessment standards, and the expectations your professors actually use.

What We Offer

Curriculum-aligned, week by week

  • We offer live, in-person group sessions in General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, aligned week-by-week with your college curriculum.

  • Our program blends targeted instruction, interactive problem-solving, and personalized attention within a small-group setting.

  • Sessions track the same order and pace as your college course. That means the concepts you study with us are the ones you’ll see in lecture, recitation, homework, quizzes, and exams that very week—so you stay in sync and ahead.

Why it Works

Small-Group dynamics, individial attention

By aligning directly with your course pacing, using real practice problems, and keeping our class size intentionally small, UstoChem ensures you’re not just reviewing material — you’re actively mastering it.

By working through tons of practice problems, we teach you how to think through chemistry, not memorize information. The result? Greater confidence, higher grades, and a stronger foundation for future courses.

We cap enrollment to preserve interaction and allow individualized feedback. You’ll be able to ask questions, work through problems live, and receive direct guidance on how to approach different question types—conceptual, quantitative, and mechanism-driven. You’ll leave each session with greater clarity, stronger skills, and a plan for success.

How it Works

Structured Sessions that build mastery

Each session lasts 2 hours and is split into two parts:

  • Hour 1: Targeted lecture from a former university professor covering topics your course taught that week, integrated with practice problems to reinforce understanding of core concepts and apply those concepts immediately.

  • Hour 2: Student-driven problem-solving and Q&A — we work through problems you bring in and additional curated challenges to strengthen mastery, apply strategies, fix misconceptions, and sharpen exam readiness.

This approach ensures you actively apply new knowledge and leave each session more prepared for quizzes, midterms, and finals.

Who It’s For
